Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 27, 2026
MyHome.school ("MyHome.school," "we," "us") is a service of Turner Technical Services, LLC. We help homeschooling families capture and keep their students' records. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We've tried to keep it plain — if anything is unclear, email us at [email protected].
Who uses MyHome.school
Accounts are created and managed by parents and guardians. MyHome.school is not directed to children, and we do not offer child-facing logins. Records about your students are entered by you, the parent or guardian who controls the account.
Information we collect
- Account information — your name and email address, used to sign you in and contact you.
- Waitlist and early-access details — if you sign up on this site, your first name, email address, state, how many children you're homeschooling, and which emails you agreed to receive. We use these to invite you and to know which states to prioritize.
- Homeschool records you create — student names, grade levels, the activities and evidence you log, and any files, photos, or notes you upload.
- Billing information — if you subscribe, our payment processor handles your card details (we never see or store your full card number).
- Basic technical data — information your browser sends automatically (such as IP address and device/browser type) and limited error and usage logs that help us keep the service working.
How we use your information
- To provide the service — storing your records and showing them back to you and the people you share them with.
- To operate your account, process subscriptions, and send service messages (for example, an invitation you sent or a billing notice).
- To keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your records to train advertising profiles.
Service providers we share data with
We use a small set of trusted providers to run MyHome.school. They process data only to provide their service to us:
- Clerk — account sign-in and authentication, including the "Sign in with Google" and "Sign in with Apple" options.
- Stripe — subscription and one-time payments.
- Backblaze B2 — the files, photos, and documents you upload. This is the only place your uploads are stored, and the storage region we use is in the United States.
- Cloudflare — content delivery, hosting for parts of the site, and protection against bots and abuse (including the Turnstile check on our signup form).
- Akamai (Linode) — the servers and the database that run the service.
- Zoho ZeptoMail — transactional and update email (invitations, notices, early-access news).
- Neon — a managed Postgres service that hosted our database until July 2026, when we moved it onto our own servers. A copy of the data as it stood at that move is still held there, so we're listing it rather than leaving it off. We expect to close that account, and we'll take this line out when we do.
That's the whole list for the app itself. We don't use third-party product analytics, error-reporting, or advertising tools inside the app — we rely on our own server logs to keep it running (see "Basic technical data" above). If we ever bring one in, we'll add it here. Advertising measurement on our marketing pages is covered separately below.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and the public.
People you choose to share with
When you invite a co-parent or a reviewer/evaluator, the records you share become visible to them. Anyone you give a portfolio share link to can view that portfolio. You control these invitations and can revoke access from within the app.
How long we keep your records
Your records don't expire. We keep them for as long as your account is active, so your family's history stays intact and available years from now — nothing ages out on its own.
Only two things are ever removed, and both are things you asked for:
- Things you delete — the moment you delete a record, a course, an assignment, or a file, it leaves your lists and any portfolio you've shared. Nothing is erased at that point: we put a 90-day hold on it, counted from the moment you deleted it. For those 90 days the item and its files are still there and can be put back exactly as they were — where the app offers to put something back you can do it yourself, and you can always email us and we'll do it. When the 90 days are up, a routine cleanup permanently deletes the item and its files from our storage. That last step is final: after it runs, we can't get the item back for you.
- Uploads that never landed anywhere — if an upload starts but never gets attached to a record (a lost connection, a closed tab), we tidy it up about 24 hours later so stray files don't sit around.
You can delete your records at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account and its data by emailing [email protected].
Two honest footnotes on deletion. First: deleting something removes it from the live service, but if we're holding an operational copy of the database taken before you deleted it, the item can persist in that copy until it rotates out. Second, and more important: we're not going to make you any promises on this page about backups or disaster recovery. That part of our setup is still being built, and we'd rather tell you about it when it's real than describe it in advance. Until we do, please keep your own copies of anything you couldn't bear to lose.
Security
We protect your data with encryption in transit, access controls, and reputable infrastructure providers. No online service can promise perfect security, but we work to keep your family's records safe and to limit access to only what's needed to run the service.
Advertising and how we measure it
We run ads so homeschooling families can find MyHome.school. To see which of those ads actually help, our public marketing pages — this website, including the home and signup pages — may use advertising measurement tools such as the Meta (Facebook) Pixel or a similar tag from another ad platform. As of the date at the top of this page, no such tool is installed on this site. We're telling you now, before we turn one on, so the choice below is available to you either way.
If and when we do use one, here is exactly what it involves:
- What gets shared — that a browser visited one of our marketing pages, whether a signup happened, and the basic technical data every browser sends (IP address, browser and device type). The ad platform may connect that to an account you already have with them. This is what the law calls targeted advertising.
- What never gets shared — your account, your students, your records, your files, photos, or notes. Everything inside the app lives behind sign-in and is never sent to an advertising platform. Ad tags run only on our marketing pages, never on the app itself.
We do not sell your personal information, and we never use your family's records for advertising.
Opting out of ad measurement
If you'd rather not be included in ad measurement — including targeted advertising, which Virginia's Consumer Data Protection Act and several other state laws give you the right to decline — you have three ways to say so, and any one of them is enough:
- Your browser's privacy signal — if your browser or an extension sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, we honor it automatically. No further action needed.
- The button below — it records your choice in this browser. Any ad tag we ever add must check that choice and skip loading entirely.
- Email us — write to [email protected] with "opt out of ad tracking" and we'll record it against your account and email address. This one follows you across devices, which the browser options can't do.
Your choice is stored in this browser under the name
mhs_no_ads_tracking. Clearing your cookies and site data
clears it too, so you'd need to set it again — or email us and we'll
keep it on file for you.
Your choices and rights
You can review and edit your records in the app, update your account details, and request a copy or deletion of your data. To make a request, contact [email protected]. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under your local privacy laws — such as access, correction, deletion, a copy of your data, and opting out of targeted advertising — and we'll honor those that apply to you. If we ever have to say no to a request, we'll tell you why, and you can ask us to reconsider by replying to that email; we'll take a second look and respond.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service grows. When we make material changes, we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, let you know in the app or by email.
